Terms & Conditions

Thanks for reading our Terms and Conditions! We hate to get all serious, but as we are a small company delivering handmade products to a small margin, we have to make a few things clear. Any questions please ask! We are always happy to help.

Customer Satisfaction

We adhere to the requirements of the Bespoke Product classification within The Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013.

We want you to love your furniture

We understand that buying a piece of furniture from us is an important investment. So please get in touch with us if you have any issues at all and we'll do all we can to make things right.

All furniture and decor items leaving our workshop are quality inspected before they are dispatched. Please check your furniture as soon as it is delivered. If the consignment is damaged then please ensure the proof of delivery documentation is signed as 'damaged', otherwise the consignment will be considered as delivered in good condition.

If a product is received with aesthetic damage or structural fault, please we will expedite the repair and return to you. If it cannot be repaired using standard production methods that would be used in making a brand new product, we will replace the affected part or component.

These terms, along with our sales process and hundreds of photos and descriptions across our website, attempt to set expectations as accurately as possible of how your natural furniture may look.

It is the buyer’s responsibility to ensure they read this information in full before placing an order. Where a buyer is acting on behalf of an individual/group/company they must ensure all parties involved have read this information before placing an order. By placing an order we will assume that all the relevant parties have read and understood:

  • The Terms and Conditions
  • The Care Guide
  • The material and finishes used on the piece(s)
  • Have considered the importance of using our Timber sampling service if colour matching to existing furniture or have a specific expectation of finish.
  • The details/notes on the products listing (where applicable).
  • The details/notes on the design specification included on the invoice (where applicable).
  • The details/notes on the drawing (where applicable).

The Nature of Wood

Natural timber products naturally undergo changes as they acclimatise to their environment, known as Natural Wood Movement. To minimise noticeable issues, we implement careful design, material sourcing, preparation, and production processes. However, as it's impossible to eliminate the risk entirely. Wood movement occurs as timber acclimatises from the moment the tree is felled, through seasoning and production, and continues for up to 12 months in your home, adapting to temperature, humidity, and sunlight variations. Temporary changes, such as cracks opening and closing, may occur during this time. After 12 months, if excessive or practical issues arise, please contact us with photos for assessment.

Refunds, Returns and Alterations

We are a small company offering bespoke, made to order products. We cannot accept cancellations or offer a full refund on any orders after 14 days of the order being placed or for an item(s) that has already been posted/delivered. Please ensure all details are correct before placing your order, and that you are happy with all design decisions and materials. If you have ordered large items with us (Dining Furniture/Sideboards/Coffee tables etc) we will send you photographs of your item before dispatch.

With the exception of outlet items, all our furniture is made to customer specification and are custom-built for each customer, all of these products fall under the Bespoke product classification in consumer law. Therefore if an order, or any part of an order, is cancelled at any stage after the production process has started (including after delivery), depending on the stage of production The Funky Furniture Shed reserves the right to retain up to 50% of the order value to cover irretrievable costs and recycling of the materials.

Bespoke products are non-refundable after 14 days of the order being placed.

Orders from our outlet (products available to purchase directly from the website with a maximum lead time of less than 2 weeks) can be cancelled, exchanged or partially refunded and returned after 14 days at the discretion of The Funky Furniture Shed. Requests to do so must be made in writing. All cancellations or returns will be subject to a 20% return fee, plus the cost of delivery (if already booked and/or delivered), plus the cost of the return delivery by Interparcel or other suitable courier, plus any other reasonable costs accrued by The Funky Furniture Shed.

Where a buyer is acting on behalf of an individual/group/company, they must ensure all information relating to the order is passed onto the relevant parties. We cannot offer any replacements, refunds, reimbursements, discounts or compensation for any issue that may arise as a result of this.

We endeavour to always send out quality products, however, mistakes can occasionally happen. • Pandemic/War/Other Disaster.
  • Government enforced restrictions/laws.
  • Delivery delays (including those related to stock/material supply).
  • Where a person would be at risk of harm.

 Materials and Finishes

By the very nature of both the materials we use and the handmade nature of our manufacturing process, our pieces could contain any/all of the  following characterful/natural traits:

  • Small ‘chip out’, ‘tear out’, or marks from the machining and manufacturing processes in the Workshop
  • Knots/cracks/shakes/medullary rays
  • Kiln stick marks
  • Circular saw or band saw lines on the rough sawn face
  • Natural colour variation
  • It can take up to 14 days for waxes and oils to fully cure.

These should be expected within each piece and we cannot offer refunds, reimbursements, discounts or compensation for such features. Please contact us if you are unsure on the terms or what to expect with the above.

Other natural characteristics include shrinkage, swelling, surface splitting and minor movement due to the change in temperature and humidity. This won't affect the practicality, durability or lifespan of your furniture and movement within the wood is completely normal. We purposefully leave small cracks and imperfections in the timber as we feel it adds our style and character to the product.
